Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22

Statement of Theology

The Bible is the sole and sufficient authority in caring for souls (II Tim 3:16-17, II Pet. 1:3, Heb. 4:12, Psalm 19:7-14). As stated in 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness v17 that the man of God may be perfect, furnished unto all good works.” Man will attain his highest potential by listening and obeying the Word of God as illuminated by the Spirit of God.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God...”

One should only be guided by the truths that are found in the Word of God. (I Corinth 10:13, II Tim 3: 16-17) The goal of soul care is to help a person to understand himself/herself by drawing near to God and by understanding His will in their life. Change should occur in conformity to God's will, not necessarily what the person expects change to look like. (I Tim. 1:5, Col. 1:27-29)

Caring for hurting people is the responsibility of each member of the body of Christ. That does not mean that advice should be given indiscriminately, but rather careful study of God's word, prayer, and obedience to God's word are prerequisites for such task. (Rom 15:14, Heb. 10:24-25)

Ultimate counselor is God himself. All living soul is accountable to God real change can only occur by the grace of God and in the power of His Holy Spirit. (Rom 15:13, I Corinth 10:13, Phil. 4:13, Is. 9:6)
